1.5 Ton AC Power Consumption in India 2024

Welcome readers, I hope all of you are happy and healthy. In this article, we are going to tell you about 1.5 Ton AC Power Consumption in 2024.

During the summer season, most houses have an oven to get relaxation from. We use Air Conditioners now. What type of Air Conditioner you use is obviously your choice. Buying an AC is not very hard nowadays because a lot of EMI offers you get from the company but running an AC sometimes gives some economical problems to your basically middle-class family. So firstly you are aware of how much power is consumed by your AC and how much you pay for this.

So, GadgetsBhai did a survey and prepared a total article on it. In this, We’ll talk about a 1.5 Ton AC Power Consumption. You’re wondering how much it will cost you to run it. We’ll show you how many watts a 1.5 Ton AC unit consumes and how to calculate its running costs in this article. In addition, 1.5 Ton AC Running Cost Per Hour, Day, Week, and Month Chart for AC units with 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 Star ratings.

Determination Process of Approximate Cost for Running 1.5 Ton AC

Running a 1.5-ton AC can cost  anywhere between 9rs to 13 rupees per hour or monthly 2203 rupees to 3305 rupees (Approximate)

In order to determine the exact running cost of 1.5 Tons of AC per hour, you must know two things:

  • How to find the wattage of a 1.5-ton AC unit. You can check it on the unit’s label, or you can check it from the EER rating. Example: An average 3-star portable or window AC unit has an EER rating of about 9. This means that such AC units have a wattage of about 2,000W when they are running at 100% cooling output. A 5-star 1.5-ton AC has an EER rating of about 11. At 100%, it will use about 1,6000 watts.
  • Cost Of Electricity (Per kWh). Based on your 1.5-ton AC’s wattage, you can calculate how much electricity (measured in kWh) it consumes. To calculate how much it costs to run a 1.5-ton AC per hour, multiply the kilowatt-hours by its price. For example, in India, electricity costs 5.51 rupees  on a national basis, which means the cost of running a 1.5-ton AC at 100% output is about 11.02 per hour

Here’s the important part: we don’t run air conditioners all of the time at 100% output. If we take the presumption used for SEER rating calculation (Season Energy Efficiency Ratio), the average output of air conditioners is 58%. In much the same way, ISEER or Indian SEER is calculated.

This means that a 3-star 1.5-ton AC has a maximum wattage of around 2,000W. To calculate the running cost, we need to use the average wattage, which is 1,160W (at 58% output). The difference between the maximum and running wattage of 1.5 Ton AC units is this.

Power Consumption Of 1.5 Ton AC

  • We will begin by estimating how much it costs to run a 1.5-ton AC unit per hour.
  • A 1.5-ton AC Running Cost Calculator helps you figure out how much it will cost to run it for one hour, for one day, for one week, for one month, etc. Just enter the price of electricity in your area (rupee/kWh) and the number of hours you plan on running the AC.
  • Listed below are all units – from the most inefficient 1-star units to the most efficient 5-star units – as well as their running costs per hour, day, week, and month.

Calculation

How do we come up with how much it will cost to run a 1.5-ton 3-star AC for an hour given its maximum wattage of 2,000W?

Considering that a 1.5-ton air conditioner runs at 58% cooling output, we need to calculate the average running wattage:

  • Running Wattage (1.5-ton 3-star) = 2,000W × 0.58 = 1,160W

The cost of running such a 1.5-ton AC will be calculated by multiplying the kWh spent by the price of electricity. Here we use 5.51 rupee/kWh as the Indian average.

  • Running Cost Per Hour (1.5-ton 3-star) = 1.16 kWh × 5.51/kWh = 6.3916/hour

An average 3-star 1.5-ton AC unit will cost about 6.3916 rupees to run for one hour. If we run it for a full day (24 hours), we multiply this number by 24.

  • Running Cost Per Day (1.5-ton 3-star) = 6.3916/hour × 24 hours = 153.3984/day

To calculate the running cost of a 1.5-ton AC unit, you will need to know how many watts it uses. Here is a shortlist that roughly estimates the maximum and running wattage of 1 – 5 star AC units:

1.5 Tons AC  with Star Rating Maximum Wattage (Approximate)
1-Star 1.5 Ton AC2,400 Watts
2-Star 1.5 Ton AC2,200 Watts
3-Star 1.5 Ton AC2,000 Watts
4-Star 1.5 Ton AC1,800 Watts
5-Star 1.5 Ton AC1,600 Watts

1.5 Ton AC Running Cost Chart

These calculations assume you use your air conditioner for 8 hours a day (not 24 hours) and use India’s national electricity cost. Here are the running costs for 1.5-ton units:

With this table, you can calculate 1.5 tons of 3-star AC power consumption, 5-star AC power consumption, and so on. You have calculated the hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly costs of running these units.

Kindly note that it is an approximate calculation so take (+ 15%- 20%) as loss due to electric circulation.

How to Reduce AC Electricity Bill

In the upper section, we tell how to calculate the running cost but here we give some tips on How to reduce AC electricity Bills.  So here are the tips

1. Right Temperature

You should never set the AC at the minimum temperature. Many people think that setting the AC at 16 degrees will provide better cooling, but that’s really not the case. According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the ideal temperature for the human body is 24 degrees, and any AC will take less load to reach this temperature. In order to save more electricity and reduce your energy bill, it is better to set the AC temperature to around 24 degrees.

2. Turn Off the AC When Not Needed

If you aren’t using an air conditioner or any other appliance, you should always turn off the power switch. Most people switch off their AC with remotes, but that’s not a good idea. That’s because, when the compressor is set to idle load, a lot of electricity is wasted, which affects the monthly bill.

3. Use Limit Timer

All ACs come with a timer, so it is better to use it instead of running the machine all night. It is always a good idea to set the timer for 2-3 hours straight before going to sleep or at other times. When the AC is set to turn off, it will not overuse it and it will cut down on your electricity bill considerably.

4. Regular Maintenance

It is important to service all appliances, including air conditioners. While most manufacturers claim that their ACs don’t require service very often, that’s not entirely true. As ACs are not used throughout the year in India, it is always a good idea to have them serviced. The air conditioners are more likely to get damaged by dust or other particles, so it is a good idea to have them serviced before summer.

5. Ensure Close Doors and Windows

If you close all the openings in the room before you turn on the air conditioner, the room will cool quickly and for a longer period of time. You will also save money on your electricity bill at the end of the month when you use the air conditioner. If you do have not any 1.5-ton AC and you think to Buy so We recommended the 1.5 Ton 5 Star AC.
